Who qualifies
Adult family members or other informal caregivers 18 or older caring for someone 60 or older, or for someone of any age with Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder; relatives (not parents) 55 or older caring for children under 18; and relatives, including parents, 55 or older caring for adults 18 to 59 with disabilities. There is no income requirement. Respite care gives temporary relief in or out of the home, including day care, out-of-home overnight care, and home chore and homemaker help.
Some Area Agencies on Aging contract with California Caregiver Resource Centers to run the program.
The California Department of Aging does not provide direct services; your local Area Agency on Aging does. Call the California Aging and Adult Information Line, which routes your call to the Area Agency on Aging for your area.
