Respite program
ADvantage Respite
Checked
Who qualifies
ADvantage members who are unable to care for themselves, when the primary caregiver is absent or needs relief. Respite is used only when other sources of care and support are exhausted, and is listed on the service plan only when it is necessary to prevent institutionalization.
In-home respite is 2 to 7 hours a day. Extended respite of at least 8 hours can be given in the member's home or in a nursing facility.
Caregiver Assistance (National Family Caregiver Support Program)
Checked
Who qualifies
Family members who are caring for older persons. Respite vouchers help caregivers pay someone to temporarily take their place as a care provider. There is no income limit for people caring for someone 60 or over, or for grandparents 55 or older raising grandchildren.
Services also include help getting community services, counseling, support groups and caregiver training.
Respite is one of the ADvantage Waiver's services and must be on the member's service plan. To apply for the waiver, complete the online application for in-home assistance or call the Medicaid Services Unit at 1-800-435-4711.
